Inspirational Fiction for Catholic Women

If you are like most Catholic women, you delight in the amount of non-fiction books that feed your soul and nourish your faith. Your book shelves are, no doubt, filled to the brim with non-fiction books that suit your every need: contemplative, inspirational, meditative, novenas, and the like. There are a plethora of authors sharing a wealth of information that give glory to His kingdom and cushion your journey with comforting words found in Scripture.

Along with these books, sites like Catholic Online and Your Catholic Voice, as well as vicariate papers that are carefully and lovingly produced immerse you in the Catholic culture. They help you discern the teachings of your faith and are truly invaluable.

However, if you are also like many Catholic women, you bemoan the dearth in Catholic fiction that could also do these same things: feed your soul, nourish your faith, cushion your journey, and immerse you in a culture supportive of your Catholic faith. Our Protestant and Evangelical sisters-in-faith enjoy countless such books; books that both inspire a woman and bring her closer to Christ.

As a Catholic author (Reclaiming Your Christian Self in a Secular World: A Woman's Bible Study and Raising Christian Children in a Secular World) it has been my honor to begin a Catholic publishing company that I have called Bezalel Books. Bezalel means "in the shadow of God." Bezalel exists to fill the void that so many Catholic women feel in regards to fiction literature for their faith. Bezalel's first book, "Elizabeth: A Holy Land Pilgrimage," has been the feature of many recent articles heralding a new dawn for Catholic women's fiction and is currently on the Catholic News Service wire. It is due out in February, 2007 and is part of a series that we are calling "Women of Faith." It is our goal at Bezalel to offer fiction that both honestly reflects a woman's journey as well as reveals the Truth as found in Christ.
