Homosexual play defender calls pro-family activist 'fat stupid housewife'

Leave it to the libertine left to promote another play that features sexual immorality. To them, it's art, of course. And art, as you know, is supposed to portray "tolerance" and "diversity."

So it is with a play - I'll spare you the name of it - that's being shown in a certain section of the Windy City (and probably elsewhere in the U.S.). It is a play that Jeffrey Hogan of Chicago has no problem with.

But Hogan does have a problem with Arlene Sawicki.

Sawicki is a pro-life, pro-family activist who resides in a suburb of Chicago. In an August 12 op-ed for IllinoisLeader.com, Sawicki wrote:

"The Lakeshore Theater, located at 3175 N. Broadway in the middle of Chicago's homosexual community, will be hosting a performance called [name of play]....

"The show features two nude men...with lighting in the background to project on a large screen. Since its creation in 1996, the show has toured Canada, Spain, Germany, the U.K., New Zealand and the U.S.

"According to Chicago Municipal Code, this play is illegal and subject to enforcement. Chicago's Public Morals Code (yes, Chicago has a Morals Code), 8-8-90, titled, 'Indecent publications and exhibitions,' says:

"It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly to exhibit, sell, print, offer to sell, give away, circulate, publish, distribute, or attempt to distribute any obscene book, magazine, pamphlet, paper, writing, card, advertisement, circular, print, picture, photograph, motion picture film, play, image, instrument, statue, drawing, or other article which is obscene. Any person violating any provisions of this section shall be fined not less than $20.00 nor more than $200.00 for each offense.

"Obscene for the purpose of this section is defined as follows: whether to the average person, applying contemporary community standards, the dominate theme of the material taken as a whole appeals to prurient interests...."

Needless to say, Hogan didn't like Sawicki's op-ed. He sent her this scathing e-mail:

"You know, there are at least three pornography stores in the neighborhood that [name of play] is playing. You are just attacking this play because it is receiving a lot of press and you are desperately trying to make a name for yourself.

"Obviously, this overtly homosexual community of Lakeview has absolutely no problem with the play. Especially since the play already appeared at the same venue last year. You've heard of the 'Gay Pride' parade, right?

"... [The play contains] nudity. There is no law against presenting nudity in a live play. Ever seen 'Hair'?

"Seriously, you are a fat stupid housewife. How dare you pretend to determine the artistic value of anything outside your fabulous, home-cooked meatloaf. Leave the literary discussions to people who aren't completely brainwashed by Jesus. (By the way, you do realize that not all Americans are Christian, right?)

"The fact of the matter is this - you're a moron. Take your psychotic Christian values and move to Utah. In Chicago, people are open minded, intelligent, and accepting - accepting of other religions, other sexual preferences and other ways of thought. You automatically make me into a pervert by defending free speech. There is nothing 'obscene' about [name of play], at least not determined by your precious 'court.' The play has appeared in venues across the country. The only people that have a problem are people that would never see the play anyways.

"Honestly, I don't even care about this...play. I've never seen it and I probably never will. Your stuck up, holier than thou attitude drives me insane. How dare you determine what we can or cannot see.

"You and your fellow Christian housewives have to accept the fact that young, vital people like me are the ones that will inherit this world, and we reject your values and we reject your ignorant religion. (You don't hear about too many Buddhist monks molesting young boys, do you? Interesting...)

"It's also interesting that you reject a Supreme Court justice's ruling because you disagree with his viewpoint on other, completely unrelated topics. The Supreme Court defines the law, stupid!"

Sawicki forwarded Hogan's "loving" e-mail to a few of her friends, including yours truly.

I subsequently forwarded the e-mail to another pro-family activist, George Kocan, who, like Sawicki, resides in a suburb of Chicago. Kocan had a great response to Hogan's screed:

"I see Jeffrey is a psychologist, and a pretty perceptive one at that. Imagine being able to discern that Arlene Sawicki is trying desperately to make a name for herself. Wow!

"Three porn stores in a homosexual community. That says a lot about homosexuals, doesn't it? I have yet to see a porn shop in all of DuPage [County], although the Democrats are trying hard to bring a strip club to West Chicago.

"The community standards under discussion refer to the State of Illinois as a whole. Anyone can get a bunch of weirdoes together to entertain themselves with porn or snuff films and call it a community."

Kocan continues:

"That this is a homosexual community says a lot. They pretend that laws do not apply to them. They get to make up the law as they go along. Only they get to make up the law, mind you. People who have other ideas don't; they are called, 'fat stupid housewives.'

"Nudity is provocative and implicitly erotic. The puppetry attacks standards of decency and conduct that protect family life, respect for the person and respect for sex. What we have operating here is Gresham's Law of culture. As bad money drives out good, bad entertainment drives out good entertainment. Bad money drives inflation and economic catastrophe. Bad entertainment drives immorality and a breakdown in the social network of responsibility and trust. This gives us a high rate of unmarried persons having children and resultant high crime rate.

"Housewives are forbidden from evaluating artistic value because only effete homosexuals know what art is. We are to believe that [homosexuals] are some kind of priesthood who have a special knowledge about religion, brainwashing and even Jesus....

"...Jeffrey did not see the play. It is not worth his time. The value is in the obscenity, not in any artistic value. The point of the play, in other words, as is true of so much else: It is not truth or insight into the human condition; it is the obscenity; it is the break down of psychological barriers to sexual ideas and behaviors; it is brainwashing; it represents sexual liberation as an instrument of political control. In the same paragraph he praises open-mindedness and acceptance and rejects the point of view of a housewife because she is religious. If that doesn't define insanity, what does?

"...Homosexuals and their straight allies control the entertainment business and determine what we see or don't see. Homosexuals are obsessed with perverted and promiscuous sex and the culture reflects that. Why should they have such power?

Kocan concludes:

"It is universally understood among legal scholars that courts are supposed to interpret the law and apply it. They are not supposed to rewrite it. That is unconstitutional. They take an oath to defend the Constitution and not legislate from the bench. But, under our regime of sexual liberation, neither moral nor legal precedents mean anything. There exist no restraints on such justices who do as they please--puppetry of the law, to coin a phrase."

God bless ya, Arlene and George!
