FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA ADVISORY

SAN JOSE, CA (November 7, 2011) - On the evening of Thursday, October 13th, 2011 RealOptions Pregnancy Medical Clinics celebrated 30 years of serving Santa Clara County. Executive Pastor Wayne Jackson graciously opened Abundant Life Christian Fellowship's doors to over 432 registered guests representing more than 64 different churches and denominations.

RealOptions Pregnancy Medical Clinics is recognized as a leading pro-life service organization in Santa Clara County dedicated to supporting a culture of life.

Valerie Hill, Executive Director/CEO of RealOptions, honored the founders, Marion and Tom Recine, with a bouquet of roses. The couple shared an inspiring message about the birth of RealOptions and their hopes and dreams for the ministry in years to come. Click link to watch tribute http://youtu.be/Yw5v4jOwvjw.

Rev. Matthew D. Stanley, Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Palo Alto, opened with prayer and shared that groups of pro-life people who publicly demonstrate against abortions are frequently told by bystanders to 'Go home and mind your own business!' "That's interesting advice isn't it?" said Rev. Stanley. He poignantly observed,"Actually, it could make life a whole lot easier. We could go home and forget about people who are homeless and starving. That's their problem, we might say. We only need to mind our own business and simply forget about the unemployed, the depressed, the immigrant, and the lonely. And yet, as Christians we have a great responsibility--wherever and however our brothers and sisters are suffering, that is OUR business.

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

Today, our most defenseless brothers and sisters are babies in the womb, 4,400 of them a day are being snuffed out by abortion. Their mothers are victims, too, because they aren't being given the help they need to care for their children. If we love the babies, and if we love their mothers, then this IS our business. This is the business of the Christian. This is the business of love. And this is why we are here tonight."

RealOptions' Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Belton, MD, shared his personal testimony and explained how a simple question from a friend transformed his career. 'So, when do you think life begins?' his friend asked early in Dr. Belton's medical training, prior to becoming a Christian when he was routinely performing abortions. Dr. Belton reflected,"It was a question that in its simplicity cut through all the talk, and politics, and philosophizing surrounding this issue. It was a question that almost immediately turned my thinking on its head, bringing my involvement in abortions to an abrupt halt."

He has been an obstetrician since 1978. He went on to say that, "It has been my great joy to help women and couples bring newborn life into the world. There is something about a newborn baby - and the parents' joyful tears that go along with it - that is magical, miraculous, and affirms life and hope and God's love, all in a moment! My practice career has been steeped in joy and the mysterious affirmation of life." He also had the honor and privilege of sharing with the audience a live ultrasound of a 10 week old baby!

Valerie Hill shared her vision in poetry inspired by the famous speech of Martin Luther King, Jr., "I Have a Dream." Hill shared her dream list of the ways RealOptions will be a catalyst for the restoration of a culture of life in Santa Clara County. She also showed a video to the audience on a potential new medical clinic site for the East San Jose Center which will enable RealOptions to offer ultrasound technology and pre-natal care. To see potential site click on http://youtu.be/fykrBACqojI. Hill informed the crowd that in Santa Clara County alone, it is estimated that there were 21,900 abortions in 2010. The audience also heard a powerful client testimony who found out about RealOptions at her church while she was contemplating an abortion. She went to RealOptions for information, support, and encouragement and she said she found all three. She said, "With God I know I can make it." The audience rejoiced with her as she held her son in her arms. To watch client testimony click on http://youtu.be/K44Nzgw5HxU.

In support of the event, Dr. Bruce Wilkinson, renowned author of The Prayer of Jabez, spoke to the captivated audience about his confidence in RealOptions and its mission to save lives. "I am honored to speak at this event tonight. RealOptions is on the front lines of ministry." RealOptions' goal for the year is to save 800 babies in 2012 and the average cost for one life is $1200 per child. He presented a holy challenge to those attending by having them answer this question: How do you expect God to meet this need? Hill said, "God showed Himself strong and faithful to the mission to equip and empower women and men to choose life for their unborn children. Our Board, staff, and volunteers are rejoicing, yet humbled by God's mandate to us to more than double the number of lives saved next year. We realize that we have a huge amount of work in front of us, yet we are determined to accomplish this with your continued partnerships and God's help."
