LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The unfortunate truth is people tend to live in fear. This fear easily translates into anxiety over anything from the dark to social situations to events outside our control.
God doesn't want us to live in fear and anxiousness. He wants us to live in joy, comfort and peace - the key to achieving this is to stop listening to the lies of the devil.
The Bible tells us to have faith in the one true God, not the fallen angel and his cohorts but sometimes we need more than knowledge. We need divine intervention.
unload all your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you. - 1 Peter 5:7
God wants us to give our problems to Him. Pray for peace and ask God to accept the burdens of your mind and heart.
and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:7
By offering God our worries, we unburden ourselves and the fear and anxiousness disappear. The Lord replaces our problems with a peace so far removed from the world we can feel nothing but His divinely inspired calm.
When the devil lies to you and says you should remain in a state of anxiousness, remember God holds more power than the enemy can even dream of.
The Lord will give strength to his people, the Lord blesses his people with peace - Psalm 29:11
We are meant to live in power and peace. Believe in Him and keep praying. Believe in the promises of the Gospel and stay strong.
As the enemy attacks, continue to pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to surround you with divine protection. Ask the Lord to empower you against the lies and to grant you both strength and peace.
Lord, you will grant us peace, having completed all our undertakings for us. - Isaiah 26:12
God has complete control.
Repeat this to yourself when you begin to doubt. He has literally taken care of us to this point - why would he stop now?
[Retaining peace is hard because all humans are imperfect and all of us doubt - but that doesn't mean it is impossible. The next time you begin to feel anxious, turn to the Word of God. Put specific scriptures on post-its around your home.
Stick a scripture to your bathroom mirror and declare peace in your life, especially before you engage in an activity proven to make you anxious.
Believe in the Lord, pray often and make declarations. You'll be empowered and eventually those anxieties that have been plaguing you will disappear.
