Fr. Pablo Straub Records Historic CD on His Jubilee

First CD to join EWTN personality with the music of St. Alphonsus Liguori

DENVER (September 2, 2008) - Fr. Pablo Straub, Redemptorist missionary and EWTN personality, celebrates his 50th year in the priesthood with a very special recording.

Praying the Seven Sorrows of Mary with St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori is the first CD to join Fr. Pablo with the music of his founding father, St. Alphonsus Liguori, the great 18th century Italian saint, founder of the Redemptorists and a doctor of the church. It is also the first CD to feature Fr. Pablo together with his Redemptorist brothers and sisters, the Redemptoristines, on the same recording.

The Seven Sorrows project is the second CD produced and arranged by Ray and Theresa Herrmann and Little Lamb Music (www.littlelambmusic.com) partnering with the Denver Province Redemptorists. In December of last year, the province released Praying the Rosary with St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori. These are the first two CDs produced in the U.S. to feature the music of St. Alphonsus Liguori. The saint's music is performed and sung on both productions by the Herrmanns and members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Ray Herrmann (www.rayherrmann.com), a world-class saxophonist, is a Grammy-award winner with 20 years of experience playing with and arranging music for some of the biggest names in American music: LeAnn Rimes, Chicago, Whitney Houston, Christine Aguilera, Bob Dylan, Santana, Herbie Hancock, and George Benson. Susan Bailey, editor and publisher of Grapevine Magazine, said of the Rosary CD, "This is a truly beautiful and reverent rosary recording; it's absolutely exquisite....it's one of the finest recorded rosaries available." The National Catholic Register wrote recently that "Ray Herrmann and the Redemptorists have combined to produce a Rosary CD of rare spiritual depth and musical sophistication."

With the music of St. Alphonsus playing in the background, Fr. Pablo reads the prayers and meditations written by St. Alphonsus for this Marian devotion, which are meant "to help us show gratitude and demonstrate sympathy for what our Blessed Mother endured in each of these Seven Sorrows":

1. The Prophecy of St. Simeon
2. The Flight of Jesus into Egypt
3. The Loss of Jesus in the Temple
4. The Meeting of Mary with Jesus on the Way of the Cross
5. The Death of Jesus
6. The Piercing of the Side of Jesus, and His Descent from the Cross
7. The Burial of the Body of Jesus
