SAN FRANCISCO (May 13, 2008) - Interest in Catholic titles continues to soar after the Pope's first official visit to the US. Both A CIVILIZATION OF LOVE by Carl Anderson and THE PROMISE by Father Jonathan Morris are set to land on PW's religion bestseller list this week. A CIVILIZATION OF LOVE currently has 60,000 copies in print (1st printing, 18,000 copies, 6 reprints done since then) and THE PROMISE currently has 30,000 copies in print (1st printing, 14,000 copies, 3 reprints done since then).

Notes of Interest:

A Civilization of Love: Carl Anderson, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, drew an international audience for A CIVILIZATION OF LOVE during a press conference in Rome with more than 40 journalists in attendance. The Knights of Columbus have been tireless promoters of the book, leading to it being on The New York Times bestseller list now for 6 weeks in a row.

The Promise: There was major media interest centered around Catholic Priest and FOX News Analyst Father Jonathan Morris during the Pope's first official visit to the US. He was selected as a key commentator for FOX during the visit, which he covered live from the moment of the Pope's arrival to his events at Nationals Park and Yankee Stadium. His events, largely orchestrated through local legionaries groups, were extremely successful, drawing crowds of 300+. He also appeared on numerous national tv and radio shows.

Author Bios:

From 1983 to 1987, Carl A. Anderson served in various positions of the Executive Office of the President of the United States, including Special Assistant to the President and acting Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison. In 1998, Pope John Paul II appointed Mr. Anderson to the Pontifical Academy for Life. In 2002, Mr. Anderson was appointed a member of the Pontifical Council for the Laity. Later that year he was named by the Holy Father as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for the Family; and in 2003, as a consultant to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. In 2007 he and his wife Dorian were named members of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

Father Jonathan Morris is an analyst for the Fox News Channel, where he offers ethical and moral commentary to regular news items. He has also served as a religious news analyst and commentator for several domestic and international channels, including CNN, Sky News, and BBC, and was among the theological advisors to Mel Gibson during the making of The Passion of the Christ. Father Jonathan lives in Rome, Italy.
