2007 Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership

EXTON, PA (NOVEMBER 9, 2007) - The Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) will present the 2007 Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership to four national Catholic leaders at a reception and dinner to be held Friday, November 9th at the Drexelbrook, 4700 Drexelbrook Drive, Drexel Hill, PA.

The 2007 honorees include:
• Dr. Theresa Burke, founder of Rachel's Vineyard Ministries, a life-restoring retreat model that has helped over 60,000 men and women suffering from the trauma of abortion.
• Rev. William Byron, SJ, President of St. Joseph's Preparatory School and former president of both the Catholic University of America and University of Scranton, a prolific writer and author of several books including Toward Stewardship and Take Your Diploma and Run.
• The Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (The Pink Sisters) a world-wide contemplative, cloistered congregation of sisters who are devoted to perpetual adoration before the Eucharist and whose insightful use of technology has transformed the way millions pray around the world.
• Curtis Martin, founder of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) a national organization devoted to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with college students and empowering them to fulfill God's call for their lives.

"CLI developed the Awards for Outstanding Catholic Leadership in 2000 to recognize people in the Catholic Church whose exemplary leadership in the family, the workplace, the community and the Church has been inspired by their Catholic faith," said Timothy C. Flanagan,
founder and chairman of the Catholic Leadership Institute. "The lay, clergy and religious men and women named this year have inspired and led others and serve as role models for future Church and lay leaders."

DR. THERESA BURKE
Dr. Theresa Burke has brought healing and comfort to more than 60,000 women and men suffering from the trauma of abortion. As the founder of Rachel's Vineyard Ministries, she has created a life-restoring retreat model that is impacting individuals in 47 states and over a dozen countries worldwide. A devoted wife and loving mother of five, she is also a prolific author and has recently created a new retreat specifically designed for those who have suffered from sexual abuse.

REV. WILLIAM BYRON, SJ
Rev. William Byron, SJ is a nationally-recognized educator and member of the Society of Jesus. As the former president of both The Catholic University of America and the University of Scranton and as the current president of St. Joseph's Preparatory School, he has transformed institutions and thousands of lives with outstanding leadership. A passionate and inspiring author and writer, Fr. Byron has fervently devoted his knowledge and experience to spreading the message of social and economic justice.

THE HOLY SPIRIT ADORATION SISTERS (THE PINK SISTERS)
The Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (affectionately referred to as the Pink Sisters for their robes) are a contemplative, cloistered congregation of sisters devoted to perpetual adoration before the Eucharist. The over 400 members worldwide dedicate their lives to praying for the sanctification of priests and the intentions of all the world. The US congregation founded in Philadelphia has been particularly cutting edge in its approach to a life of prayer by leveraging technology to offer perpetual adoration and to receive prayer intentions via the world wide web.

CURTIS MARTIN
Curtis Martin is the founder and president of The Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), a nationwide movement dedicated to helping college students know Jesus and fulfill His call for their lives. A husband and father of seven (with an eighth on the way), Martin has created an inspiring ministry that is making a difference on over 33 campuses in 18 states. Each year FOCUS hosts a National Student Leadership Conference that welcomes more than 1,000 students to be enriched and enlivened in the Catholic faith. FOCUS celebrates its tenth anniversary this year with 108 men having entered the seminary and 33 women having entered religious life as a result of their involvement with the ministry.
