St. Philomena and Our Lady of Grace Teaming Up for the Rosary Rally in Knock

KNOCK, IRELAND, JUNE 1, 2007 - Over 5,000 people are anticipated to participate in the All Ireland Rosary Rally and the first ever Universal Archconfraternity of St. Philomena meeting for the U.K. and Ireland.

The Archconfraternity will be teaming up with the All Ireland Rosary Rally to promote the Rosary (St. Philomena is the patroness of the Living Rosary). From June 2, 2007 each member of the World-Wide Family of the Universal Archconfraternity of St. Philomena has been asked to say the Rosary daily. All Archconfraternity members from across the globe will have their names placed in a book which will be kept on the High Alter directly below the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Grace with the baby Jesus. Monsignor Braschi, the guardian of the sacred remains of St. Philomena, enshrined in Our Lady of Grace church in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy, is expected to announce at Knock a new book written by Dr. Mark Miravalle, and published by the Archconfratenrity, entitled, Heroic Christian Purity, St. Philomena, Patroness of Purity/Wonder Worker. Monsignor will make the book available for sale on August 10, 2007 in honour of the day St. Philomena arrived in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy. Monsignor Braschi stated "The remains of St. Philomena, were requested and then translated to Mugnano del Cardinale by Don Francesco De Lucia on August 10, 1805, because he was concerned about the fate of the youth. He wanted to bring a named virgin martyr to his church to help strengthen the young people in their virtue of purity and their fidelity to Christ."

He further stated that "Dr. Mark Miravalle has done an outstanding job in his book and that he will surely inspire young people everywhere to seek the intercession of such a powerful saint who was willing to sacrifice her life for fidelity to Christ and for her virtue of purity. I want to Thank Dr. Miravalle for gifting this book to the Universal Archconfraternity of St. Philomena."

In addition Monsignor Braschi is intended to announce a series of pilgrimages from Ireland and the U.K. to the Sanctuary of Saint Philomena which will take place during the next few months.

Event Schedule:

June 1, 2007:
- First Friday Devotions with optional all night vigil in the Basilica of Knock June 2, 2007:
- 9:00 a.m. - Tour of three St. Philomena Shrines outside of Knock
- Church of the Immaculate Conception, Curry, County, Sligo. This shrine has a beautiful stained glass window of St. Philomena.
- St. Michaels Church, Cloonacool, County Sligo. A devotee of St. Philomena, Mrs. Kitty Brennan, donated the statue in thanksgiving to the Saint after she said a Novena for her husband Jack which she attributed to his health being completely restored.
- Church of the Sacred Heart, Bunninadden, County Sligo. Father Peyton, of the Parochial House, Bunninadden, County Sligo, Tel 071-918 3232
- 2:00 p.m. - Rosary Procession and Stations of the Cross, Knock Grounds
- 3:00 p.m. - First Saturday Mass in honour of Our Lady of Knock with veneration of the Relics of St. Philomena
- 4:00 p.m. - Universal Archconfraternity U.K. & Ireland Centres meeting - Knock House Hotel. Devotional items available to purchase as well as discounted rate pre-order of the new book with a special CD and second class relic holy card gift.

June 3, 2007:
- 9:00 a.m. - Thanksgiving Mass in the Apparition Church with novena prayers.
