Beauty and Catechesis draw attention at World Youth Day 2011

YOUCAT, Of Gods and Men and Goodness Reigns to highlight bi-annual event

ATLANTA, GA (August 11, 2011) - The Maximus Group, the leading Catholic communications company in the United States, is proud to announce that a number of its captivating projects will be featured at this year's World Youth Day - the bi-annual event that draws millions of young Catholics from around the world. World Youth Day 2011 is set for Aug. 16-21 in Madrid, Spain.

The highlighted projects include:
• YOUCAT, short for "Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church," will be distributed to all the attendees of World Youth Day. The book was developed with the help of young Catholics and written for high-school age people and young adults. It's is an accessible, contemporary expression of the Catholic Faith that adapts the content of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to a format intended to engage young people and young adults. The English edition, published by Ignatius Press, has the imprimatur.

• Of Gods and Men, a critically acclaimed film that garnered headlines across the globe, will be shown Wednesday, August 17 at Madrid's "Calle Fuencarral" during a day of cinema. Of Gods and Men is an award-winning film about a group of Trappist monks living in an impoverished Algerian community and under threat by radical Islamists. They must decide whether to leave or stay and risk persecution.

• Goodness Reigns will host a film festival bringing together young filmmakers ranging from the United States to as far away as Pune, India. The film festival will take place in Madrid's theater district along Luchana and Fuencarral streets beginning at 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 as part of WYD's Youth Fest's spotlight on cinema. Mario St. Francis (www.mariostfrancis.com) will emcee the festival, which will serve as the pinnacle event of the "Share the Story" Short Film Contests that will be offered before future World Youth Days.
