We ask you, urgently: don't scroll past this
Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
How to love God by caring for our bodies
FREE Catholic Classes
In our modern world, our relationship with our bodies can sometimes feel confused. We're bombarded with messages that tell us our bodies are disposable, urging us to indulge in pleasure without considering the consequences. Yet, at the same time, we're also taught to hold our bodies in reverence, striving for an idealized image of perfection.

However, as Catholics, we know that our bodies are not just vessels for pleasure or objects of worship. They are sacred gifts from God, created with purpose and intention. Our faith teaches us to honor and respect our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, deserving of care and dignity.
Thankfully, our Catholic tradition offers guidance on how to navigate this complex relationship with our bodies:
- Stewardship: Recognize that our bodies are entrusted to us by God. We are called to care for them responsibly, treating them with reverence and gratitude.
- Purpose: Understand that our bodies are not just for our own pleasure or vanity. They are instruments through which we can glorify God and serve others, reflecting His love and compassion in the world.
- Sacredness: View your body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Keep it pure and holy, avoiding actions that defile its sanctity and integrity.
- Holistic Wellness: Embrace a holistic approach to health and well-being, recognizing that true wellness encompasses not only physical fitness but also mental, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.
By integrating these Catholic teachings into our lives, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the sacred gift of our bodies and strive to live in accordance with God's will, honoring Him with every aspect of our being.
