Little is known about St. Urban I who was elected pope in 222. He was a Roman and served as bishop of Rome for almost nine years. Hippolytus may have been anti-pope during his reign, and legends say that Urban baptized Valerian, the husband of St. Cecilia. Urban died in 230 and was buried in the cemetary of Callixtus.
