I taught the separation of spiritual and earthly powers. The former is superior, the temporal later. I despised teachings with which I vehemently disagreed (e.g. the Henoticon).
I banned Christian involvement in the Lupercalia, pagan celebration. And, yes, I caused to be torched the books of the Manichean heresies. The 5th century year 496 A.D. saw the sunset of my life.
