Saint Luigi Guanella was an Italian priest and founder who devoted his life to the poor, the sick, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Born in Fraciscio, he served as a parish priest and recognized Christ in those who were often forgotten by society.
He founded the Servants of Charity and the Daughters of Saint Mary of Providence, communities dedicated to practical mercy and Christian formation. Luigi combined confidence in Divine Providence with energetic service. Pope Benedict XVI canonized him in 2011.
