Saint Maria Domenica Mazzarello was an Italian religious sister and cofoundress of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, commonly called the Salesian Sisters. Born at Mornese, she grew in faith through prayer, work, catechesis, and service to young women.

With Saint John Bosco, she helped establish a congregation devoted to Christian education and the formation of girls. Her life was marked by humility, joy, and confidence in Divine Providence. She died in 1881 and was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1951.
