Saint Pedro Esqueda Ramírez was a Mexican diocesan priest and martyr who served the people of San Juan de los Lagos during the persecution of the Church. He had a special love for children and worked to teach the Catholic faith and foster devotion to the Eucharist.

When the government suppressed public Catholic worship, he continued his priestly ministry in secret. He was captured, tortured, and shot at Teocaltitán on November 22, 1927, refusing to abandon his priesthood or his love for Christ. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II on May 21, 2000.
