LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - A nine-year-old girl in Peru is now between five and six months pregnant because she was repeatedly raped by her 30-year-old stepfather. The abuse was so bad, that the girl reported she could be raped up to ten times a day when her mother was away.

The mother noticed her daughter's belly swelling so she took her to a medical center for an ultrasound. The ultrasound revealed the girl was five months pregnant. The stepfather fled the house before he could be arrested by authorities and is now a wanted man.

Peruvian authorities have pledged the harshest legal penalty for the rapist, once he is caught.

We can only pray the life brought forth under these terrible circumstances goes from something upsetting to a blessing. Neither the child or the baby are guilty of any crime.

The case highlights the prevalence of child sexual abuse in the world and the need for tougher laws and penalties for the men and occasional women who perpetrate it. Children are meant to be loved and nurtured into responsible adults who can pursue their dreams and fulfill the purpose God has for their lives. They are not sexual objects. Yet we live in a world that is constantly trying to sexualize children, from introducing them to sexual depravity at a young age, to labeling them as "sexy" in glossy print ads despite the fact they are still minors.

Girls this age should be playing with dolls, not raising babies.

Certainly, the end times are near.

Let us pray for the conversion of hearts.
