Podesta and Team Hillary working with Devil to plot 'Catholic Spring'

If you're with "Her" then you're also with him. And by him, we mean the devil. Why make such an incredible statement? Because the Clinton campaign is anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, anti-life, anti-God. There is no other logical position.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - It is with great pain and sadness that the Catholic Online newsroom reads the emails from the Clinton camp. We are not all Republicans or even full conservatives. Many of us, like myself, hold hybrid political views, informed by our faith. We agree with the Republicans on some things, and the Democrats on others. But today, my stomach churned as I read the contents of John Podesta's leaked email and other material from the campaign.

Team Clinton never thought their words would see the light of day. They believed they could talk and strategize without risk. They were brutally honest in their opinions. But their unkind words have been leaked to the public and we now see their true colors.

As I understand, my colleagues have already written about the Podesta email that calls Catholics "backwards." To me, this isn't the most damaging piece. Instead, I am alarmed by Campaign Manager John Podesta's email from February 2012 that calls for a "revolution" in the Church.

The email was written as a strategy suggestion to Podesta. The proposal is for a "Catholic Spring" where Catholics are to be encouraged to rebel against their own Church. Just like Martin Luther.

The proposal comes from Sandy Newman, president of "Voices for Progress."

The message, which I will include below, made me sick to my stomach to read. In his own email, Newman, who is Jewish, admitted he doesn't know much about the Catholic Church. Still, he seems comfortable with an approach that would jeopardize the very salvation of the souls in the Church for the purpose of promoting an agenda which is rightfully described as Satanic.

How can a person, who is supposed to be a man of faith, ever conceive of fostering a schism in someone's faith?

"There needs to be a Catholic Spring," Newman writes to Podesta, "in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church."

There are so many things wrong with this statement, written from a position of gross ignorance.

First, the Church is not a dictatorship. Members can come and go freely. Some do. Granted, the Church is not a democracy but that's because God is a king, not a president. His laws and rules are not negotiable. As a Jewish gentleman, Newman should understand this.

The Ten Commandments are not up for a vote.

The issue of "Gender Equality" has never existed within the Church. The Church has always recognized and respected the sacred difference between the two genders. Both have occupied positions of great respect. The Virgin Mary, one of the most revered personages in the Church, ranks below God and Christ only because she is not a member of the Trinity. Aside from Christ on Earth, Mary is the greatest of all mortal souls. What other major religion holds a woman in such reverence?

It is true that women cannot be priests, but women can be called to religious life and become great leaders within the Church. Mother Teresa comes to mind. Should we consider the genders unequal because men cannot bear children? Respect for difference is not inequality.

Perhaps the worst part of this scandal is that some Catholics have opted to support Clinton, in spite of their professed beliefs. They retort, "How can anyone support Trump?"

I'm not here to answer that question. There are many ways to vote consistent with your conscience. However, the fact that Trump may be unappetizing to some does not therefore justify a vote for a candidate is anti-life. A person who is in favor of partial-birth abortion. A person who is an anti-Catholic bigot and who thinks Catholics are "backwards" and "deplorable."

It is time for Catholics to stand up and be Catholics before they are Republicans or Democrats or any other political affiliation. It's time to truly consult your conscience.

In a few weeks, Catholics will cast a ballot, one that either promotes a pro-abortion candidate into office, where she will appoint Supreme Court justices that will solidify Roe v. Wade into stone for a new century. It's true the alternative, Trump, is a flawed man. The good news is our politicians know this. They will keep Trump on a short leash, after all, he's an anti-establishment outsider. But Clinton is an insider of the worst kind. She's be in Washington for three decades, doing nothing about these problems which have come to crists.

Yes, our nation is flawed. Our process is flawed. But none of that changes the stakes. We can survive as a nation even though our politics need reform.

I'm not sure we can survive if we let the Devil into the Oval Office.

Hi, John,

This whole controversy with the bishops opposing contraceptive coverage even though 98% of Catholic women (and their conjugal partners) have used contraception has me thinking . . . There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic church. Is contraceptive coverage an issue around which that could happen. The Bishops will undoubtedly continue the fight. Does the Catholic Hospital Association support of the Administration's new policy, together with "the 98%" create an opportunity?

Of course, this idea may just reveal my total lack of understanding of the Catholic church, the economic power it can bring to bear against nuns and priests who count on it for their maintenance, etc. Even if the idea isn't crazy, I don't qualify to be involved and I have not thought at all about how one would "plant the seeds of the revolution," or who would plant them. Just wondering . . .

We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this. But I think it lacks the leadership to do so now. Likewise Catholics United. Like most Spring movements, I think this one will have to be bottom up. I'll discuss with Tara. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend is the other person to consult.
