LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to LaBeouf, the phone calls are an attempt "to touch his soul."

The plucky 29-year-old LaBeouf launched his latest live performance art work at Liverpool's Fact gallery. Backed up by two "artistic" collaborators, LaBeouf and his aides de camp have set up a call center to field conversations from his adoring public.

They will take calls at their desks until this Sunday.

The call center itself is open to the public and is being streamed online at Touchmysoul.net, where notes and various factoids made by the trio will be posted.

There have been complaints. Many say that they cannot get through on the hotline, while others claim LaBeouf actually hung up on them!

This latest "event" arrives after LaBeouf screened a marathon 72-hour film session last month. Shia live-streamed himself watching all the movies he's ever made at the Angelika Film Centre in New York. Going over the course of three days and two nights, the epic film showcase was briefly interrupted when Shia nodded off!
