Saint Paulina, born Amabile Lucia Visintainer, was born on December 16, 1865, in Vigolo Vattaro, in the Italian province of Trento. Her family emigrated to Brazil when she was a child. There she entered religious life and founded the Little Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, serving the poor and sick. After years of illness, she died on July 9, 1942. Pope John Paul II beatified her in 1991 and canonized her on May 19, 2002.
