Saint Sabbas the Sanctified was a Cappadocian monk and abbot who became one of the great fathers of the monastic life in the Holy Land. He sought God through prayer, fasting, solitude, and obedience to the spiritual masters who formed him.

Sabbas founded the Mar Saba monastery near Jerusalem, which became a center of prayer and Christian learning. He defended the Catholic faith and cared for the monks entrusted to him with wisdom and fatherly charity.
