Saint Rupert of Salzburg was a bishop and missionary who helped renew the Christian faith in Bavaria and the region of Salzburg. He established churches, supported monastic life, and preached the Gospel to people who had received the faith only imperfectly.
Rupert founded the Church of Salzburg and placed its missionary work under the patronage of Saint Peter. His patient evangelization and pastoral care made him one of the principal apostles of Austria.
