Saint Paulinus II of Aquileia was a bishop, theologian, and missionary of the Carolingian age. As patriarch of Aquileia, he worked to renew Christian instruction, defend the Catholic faith, and strengthen the unity of the Church.

Paulinus took part in important ecclesial councils and composed hymns and theological writings for the formation of the faithful. His pastoral care and learning helped the Church proclaim the Gospel in northern Italy and the surrounding regions.
