Saint Nicolás María Alberca Torres was a Spanish Franciscan priest and missionary who served the Catholic community in Damascus. He devoted himself to preaching the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and strengthening Christians who were living amid persecution.

During the violence in Damascus in 1860, Nicolás remained with his Franciscan brothers and refused to abandon the Catholic faith. He was killed with his companions and was canonized by Pope Francis in 2024 among the Martyrs of Damascus.
