Saint Marina of Omura was a Japanese Catholic laywoman and Dominican tertiary who served the persecuted Church with courage. She entered the Third Order in 1626 and assisted missionaries and Christian communities in the region of Nagasaki.
Arrested in 1634, Marina endured cruel humiliation and torture without renouncing Jesus Christ. She was burned alive for the faith and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1987 among the sixteen Martyrs of Japan.
