Saint Marie-Madeleine Postel was a French religious sister and foundress of the Sisters of Christian Schools of Mercy. Born in Barfleur, she devoted herself to the education of children and the care of the poor during the upheaval of the French Revolution.
She gathered companions and established schools where Christian formation, practical learning, and charity were joined together. Marie-Madeleine endured poverty and opposition with confidence in Divine Providence. Pope Pius XI canonized her in 1926.
