Saint Marcellus of Capua was an early bishop and martyr of the Church in southern Italy. He preached Christ and cared for the faithful during a time when the profession of Christianity could bring imprisonment and death.

Marcellus remained steadfast under persecution and gave his life for the Catholic faith. His memory has been preserved in Capua as that of a courageous bishop who served the people entrusted to him.
