Saint Bartolomea Capitanio was an Italian religious sister and cofoundress of the Sisters of Charity of the Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa. Born at Lovere, she felt a strong call to serve Christ in the poor, the sick, and the young.
With Saint Vincenza Gerosa, she founded a community devoted to Christian education and charitable service. Although she died at a young age, Bartolomea left a lasting witness of Eucharistic love, humility, and dedication to the Church. Pope John Paul II canonized her in 1986.
