Saint Pancras of Rome was a young Christian martyr who gave his life for Christ during the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian. According to the ancient tradition, he was orphaned and came to Rome, where he received the Christian faith and remained steadfast under trial.
Pancras refused to sacrifice to the pagan gods and was beheaded while still a youth. His tomb on the Via Aurelia became a place of Christian devotion, and the Church honors him as a witness to courageous faith.
