Saint Hermann Joseph was a German Premonstratensian priest and mystic of the twelfth century. He entered the monastery of Steinfeld and became known for his humility, devotion to the Eucharist, and tender love for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Hermann served the Church as a priest, spiritual director, and composer of sacred hymns. His mystical gifts were joined to obedience and a practical love for the poor, and his life continues to witness to the holiness of contemplative prayer.
