Saint Gaspare Bertoni was an Italian priest and founder of the Congregation of the Sacred Stigmata of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Born in Verona, he served the poor, instructed young people, formed seminarians, and preached with a profound love for the Passion of Christ.
His apostolate was sustained by prayer, Eucharistic devotion, and complete availability to the Church. Even amid serious illness, he remained a faithful spiritual father and teacher. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1989.
