Saint Godfried Coart, also known as Godfried of Melveren, was a Franciscan priest and one of the Martyrs of Gorkum. He served as a confessor and sacristan and was beloved for his pastoral kindness. Captured during the religious persecution in the Netherlands, he forgave his executioners and was martyred at Brielle on July 9, 1572.
