Saint Marie-Azélie Guérin, commonly known as Saint Zélie Martin, was a French wife, mother, and lace maker. She married Louis Martin and together they formed a home centered on prayer, the sacraments, family love, and generous service to the poor.
Zélie carried the responsibilities of family life with courage while enduring serious illness and the death of several children. Her holiness shows how Christian marriage and ordinary work can become a path to sanctity. She died at Alençon on August 28, 1877, and was canonized by Pope Francis in 2015 together with her husband, Saint Louis Martin.
