Saint Amadio degli Amidei was an Italian nobleman who renounced worldly privilege in order to follow Christ in humility and religious poverty. He was one of the seven holy founders of the Order of the Servants of Mary, established in Florence in the thirteenth century.
With his companions, Amadio sought holiness through prayer, penance, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and service to the Church. His life helped shape the Servite vocation of contemplation and compassionate ministry to the suffering.
