Saint Marie Rivier was born at Montpezat-sous-Bauzon in France on December 19, 1768. From childhood she showed a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and a desire to serve God, despite serious physical difficulties.
During the religious upheaval of the French Revolution, she gathered young women for prayer and Christian instruction. In 1796 she founded the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, which became devoted to evangelization and the education of children. Pope Francis canonized her on May 15, 2022.
