First bishop of Clogher, Ireland, also called Aedh MacCairthin, Macartin, and Maccarthen. He may have been consecrated by St. Patrick. He was possibly abbot of Dairmis Abbey before becoming a bishop. Macartan performed many spectacular miracles.
