ISIS supporter releases frightening propaganda

First, there was "Christmas Blood," then there was a direct threat made on Pope Francis and then there was the "Lone Wolf" Vatican attack. Now, a poster has been released by an ISIS supporter showing Santa Claus next to a case of explosives in New York City's Times Square full of people.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The poster published on the support group's social media reads, "We meet at Christmas in New York...soon."

Other recent Christmas threat posters show Santa with a terrorist by London's Regent Street and a jihadist with a bloody knife looking over a Christmas market in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Attacks made around the holidays in previous years, including the one at a San Bernardino workplace Christmas party in 2015 and the 2016 truck attack in a Berlin Christmas market.

The Wafa' Media Foundation, an ISIS support group, was behind the release of the Europe-based propaganda posters targeting the Pope and the Vatican. They also released a message to the "jihadists" of the world last week stating the "crusaders' feast is approaching."

"They want an operation in Times Square, reconnaissance group already put out a scene, the Islamic State already put up scenes of Times Square, you understand. I said that was an indication for whoever is smart to know," expressed Mohamed Rafik Naji, a legal U.S. resident and former citizen of Yemen, discussing a Nice-style attack on New York's Times Square.

Other suspected terrorists showed interest in the area messaging to each other, "We seriously need a car bomb at times square (sp). Look at these crowds of people!"

The Christmas season is meant to be one full of joy and family love. We remember the coming of the Lord, Jesus Christ and the feeling he brought with him. The thought of this beautiful time being destroyed by yet another senseless act of violence, be it in Europe or in the United States, is one we pray never comes true.

The Islamic State continues to face a backlash in Iraqi areas as security forces move further in on the terrorist organization. Perhaps, as a way to struggle to stay afloat, they are calling for their lone wolves to now pounce on innocents.

Pray with us the source of evil violence is eradicated and finished once and for all.

Struggles and Trials in Life? Look to Jesus in the Fourth Watch of the Night Watch

Image of We live our lives now in Jesus Christ and we are at home in the Boat of the Church. We can always find Him in the fourth watch of the night, if we choose to respond in faith. When we turn our faith into a verb, we too get our sea legs, as they say in the nautical culture. We also learn a new way of living - and of loving. Fear simply becomes a field of choice, an occasion for trust. Even in the fourth watch of the night, there is a bridge between fear and freedom, it passes through Jesus who tells all who will fix their eyes upon Him - Take Courage; it is I; Be Not Afraid.

We can miss a real encounter with the Lord if we think that this account is only about Peter and the disciples - something distant which ... continue reading
