'Bacteria can evolve resistance to extremely high concentrations of antibiotic at a time.'

Harvard scientists have finally released video evidence of the astounding strength of nature.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Scientists have long attempted to find a cure for bacteria-related illness such as the common cold but in a new video recently released by Harvard, it is clear to see why the struggle is real.

According to the Mirror, the footage was inspired by "Hollywood wizardry" and reveals the evolution of bacteria.

The 32-second clip begins with stimulating music and a narrator explains what the white pillars on either side of the video are.

When a "mutant" appears, it spreads and begins to compete with other mutants around it.

When the mutants reach new boundaries, they begin to mutate yet again and continue to spread.

This strengthening of the mutants is how we have superbugs. People who take antibiotics too often or who stop before completing the entire prescription are more susceptible to these mutants that become more and more antibiotic-resistant as time passes.

Harvard University Medical School scientists discovered a newer, faster method of depicting the gradual increase of mutants by using a background dyed black, to help the bacteria appear white in the forefront.

This method helps scientists explain what is happening in a way the common man can understand.

The narrator explained: "Bacteria can evolve resistance to extremely high concentrations of antibiotic at a time," which the CDC reported has led to at least 2 million cases of antibiotic resistance each year.

The CDC reported at least 23,000 people die each year from complications of antibiotic-resistant infections, so speak to your doctor and follow your doctor's instructions when taking antibiotics.
