Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

Many people lose hope while battling cancer and experience even more trauma when they fight the same disease again and again. Despite the constant evolution of technology, there are still risks of developing different forms of cancer at any time. However, one grandmother from Philadelphia has held onto hope as she successfully survived eight forms of cancer in a row.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Judith Bernstein, 72, has suffered skin, lymphoma, breast, two types of lung, esophageal, thyroid and now a rare eyelid cancer since 2001, according to The Daily Mail. But none of them defeated her incredible resilience, which she attributes to her personal experiences with tragedy.
Bernstein shared that her father was killed in a plane crash when she was 21, her sister died in a tragic car accident and her brother-in-law died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the street.
The loss of her loved ones forced her to see the good in every situation and helped her grow spiritually. She claims that the spiritual growth and positivity led her to overcome each form of cancer she has been diagnosed with.
"I have had a wonderful life. That doesn't mean that I haven't had terrible things to deal with. There was a while when I was getting one cancer diagnosis after another. At one point I thought I had cancer in my little finger. I'm not going to tell you I'm some über human being. Some people just can... deal with it when faced with challenges like cancer," she shared with News OK.
