Although Coke and sodas are a favorite for people all over the world, sodas are something that slowly changes our health and can lead into a number of diseases from the high amount of processed sugar. Starting from the first 10 minutes after a can of Coke is consumed, until an hour or more, a pharmacist explains what happens within the body.

10 minutes: Sugar equivalent to 100 percent of the daily recommended intake hits the system but because of the phosphoric acid, the individual does not vomit from the sweetness.
20 minutes: Insulin burst happens as blood sugar rises, then liver will turn sugar into fat.
40 minutes: Caffeine is completely absorbed. "Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness."
45 minutes: Pleasure centers of the brain are stimulated because of a large production of dopamine, the same way as heroin.
60 minutes: "The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism."
>60 minutes: Diuretic acid from caffeine activates, making the individual feel like peeing. However, it would take all the nutrients bonded.
>60 minutes: Sugar crash, meaning activities in the body slow down, causing one to become irritable and sluggish.
A representative from Coca-Cola told the Daily Mail their product is safe to drink and can be incorporated into a healthy, balanced diet.
