LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Curiosity's images of Mars have revealed several "sightings" that seem to point toward life previously thriving on what is currently believed to be an uninhabited planet.

Conspiracy theorists and alien-hunters took to UFO Sightings Daily after taking a closer look at an image of what appears to be the remains of a church and a crucifix.

Initial reports of a crucifix and what could be the remains of a church came from French website Christian Mace.

Not far from the crucifix, what seems to be a rock with the appearance of "a beautifully carved roof" that has "caved in" and "archways carved" in "three thin layerd [sic] sections" sits in a pile.

One anonymous commenter wrote each image was "very compelling," while the article stated: "This is a very unusual find and probably a significant discovery for some readers here that are religious."

UFO Sightings Daily editor Scott Waring claimed, "I would be[t] big money that this is a full size [sic] cross," before describing what he believes are the roof and archways of what could potentially be a church.
Other Martian images and faces have been discovered in images Curiosity has returned to NASA, but all can be considered a trick-of-the-eye.

To date, the only thing Curiosity has discovered to indicate life exists, or existed, on Mars was evidence of water previously existing on the red planet.

Unless Curiosity reveals a moving, living, being or creature, it is safe to assume the images sent home can only be used for geographic purposes.
