Sunday, Dec. 9, 9-10 p.m. EST (PBS) "Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration." Featuring singers Chloe Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Meav Ni Mhaolchatha, Orla Fallon and fiddler Mairead Nesbitt, the show includes such popular classics as "White Christmas," "Carol of the Bells," "Little Drummer Boy," "O Holy Night" and "Let it Snow." Filmed in the prestigious Helix Center in Dublin, Ireland, it features several original pieces: "Green the Whole Year Round," a fiddle solo called "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Christmas Pipes" (TV-G -- general audience).
Sunday, Dec. 9, 10-11 p.m. EST (PBS) "Pope John Paul II: A Saint for Our Times." This documentary outlines the key themes of the life and papacy of Pope John Paul II, the longest-serving pope in modern history. In April officials of the Diocese of Rome concluded the initial phase of the process for his canonization (TV-G -- general audience).
Monday, Dec. 10, 8-10 p.m. EST (PBS) "Jazz at Lincoln Center: Red Hot Holiday Stomp." Jazz at Lincoln Center's artistic director, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, hosts this evening of music and storytelling. Joining him onstage for this "Wynton Wonderland" are Wycliffe "Pinecone" Gordon, Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson, Victor Goines, Joe Temperley, "Papa" Don Vappie, Reginald Veal, Dan Nimmer, Herlin Riley and Roberta Gumbel (TV-G -- general audience).
Wednesday, Dec. 12, 10-11 p.m. EST (EWTN) "Our Lady of Guadalupe and Miraculous Mexico." Canadian Bishop Roman Danylak and pilgrims journey through Mexico with a missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, going to the holy shrines of St. Michael of the Miracle, Our Lady of Ocatlan and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Saturday, Dec. 15, 8-9 p.m. EST (EWTN) "John Paul the Great: A Pope Who Made History." This documentary covers the most notable points of Karol Wojtyla's life, from his birth, early life in Nazi-controlled Poland, priestly ministry under communist oppression, election as Pope John Paul II and the events surrounding his death.
