MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Hines, 33, was found in front of her apartment building with 16 fatal stab wounds and pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, according to the police. A witness, neighbor George Hudacko, 65, called 911 after seeing Davenport stabbing his girlfriend and hearing the rapper screaming, "Get out, devils. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out."
A law enforcement source explained the crime could be a case of "cocaine-fueled exorcism," with the suspect speculated high on the drug when committing the crime, according to The Daily Mail.
Davenport has a previous criminal record, arrested with six drug-related crimes, including marijuana possession and petit larceny. He was dragged from Hines body reciting Bible verses and still making stabbing gestures with empty fists, and was taken to the New York's Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for psychological testing before police interrogation.
Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman expressed his heartbreak over the sad news about his step-granddaughter and thanked those who poured out their love for the family after the tragic loss of Hines.
"The world will never know her artistry in talent. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace. I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter E'Dena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
