These 'giga coasters' break boundaries.

Amusement parks have been soaring to new heights - literally. As thrill-ride seekers experience the gift of advancing technologies in increasing speed and velocity on park rides, the fun does not stop there. North America has four out of five of the world's giga coasters, according to the New York Times. The higher, it would seem, the better in roller coasters.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Mekado Murphy described the varying experiences among the four so-called "giga coasters," claiming that each has its own appeal to engage thrill-seekers and enthusiasts.

1. Fury 325 (Carowinds)

The journey on the newest and tallest in the "giga coaster" group is designed to last for three minutes and 25 seconds. The first drop is at an 81-degree angle, "steep and assured, sending you rushing down the first hill, accelerating at a rapid clip before you head back up into a sharp barrel turn that leads to a 190-foot drop." After coming out of the plunge, the ride soon reaches a 95 mph speed.

2. Millennium Force (Cedar Point)

Murphy described the ride as a game-changer: with lighter, speedier and more silent cables, there's not much time left to anticipate what's next. Even more, the design prohibits you to from knowing where it will go next and has a 182-foot hill that makes you feel like flying.

3. Intimidator 305 (Kings Dominion)

With sharp turns and speed like a race car, it really can be intimidating. It has twisty, pretzel-like loops that are designed to make the rider wonder whether it's heading left or right, up or down.

4. Leviathan (Wonderland)

This giga coaster in Canada offers you a fast, thrilling tour of the amusement park landscape. It offers the longest duration among the group. Lasting for three minutes and 28 seconds, the thrill is heightened because of the four-person-across open-air seating that allows the upper body move freely, like flying.

Hope you like heights!
