Martyred actor and horse trader. He was supposedly a one time horse dealer and actor who was given the honor of performing before Emperor Julian the Apostate. The performance piece was a lampoon of the Baptism, but in the middle of it Porphyrius stopped and announced to his aghast audience that he was himself a Christian. The chagrined emperor had him put to death without delay.
