Blessed Marcos Caldeira (c. 1547–1570) was a Portuguese Jesuit novice brother who set out for Brazil as a missionary with Blessed Ignatius de Azevedo and their companions. French corsairs captured their ship near the Canary Islands in July 1570. Caldeira was thrown alive into the sea on July 15 and died for the faith with the other Jesuit missionaries.
