Saint Nilus of Sinai was a Christian monk, abbot, and spiritual writer who lived in the tradition of the Egyptian desert fathers. He sought God through prayer, fasting, Scripture, and the disciplined pursuit of purity of heart.

Nilus counseled monks and other Christians to resist pride, anger, and attachment to worldly honors. His writings remain a witness to the ascetical wisdom of the ancient Church and to the call to continual conversion in Christ.
