Saint Nerses IV the Gracious was an Armenian bishop, theologian, and pastor who served the Church with learning, prayer, and pastoral charity. As Catholicos of the Armenians, he worked for the renewal of Christian life and sought unity among Christians.

Nerses wrote hymns, prayers, and spiritual works that continue to nourish Armenian Christian devotion. His title, “the Gracious,” recalls both his gentle character and his deep concern for the poor, the sick, and the unity of the Church.
