Saint Magdalene of Nagasaki was a Japanese Catholic virgin and martyr. Born into a Christian family, she consecrated herself to God and served the persecuted Catholic communities through catechesis, prayer, and works of mercy.

Magdalene was arrested and tortured but refused to abandon Christ. She was executed at Nishizaka in Nagasaki in 1634 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1987 among the martyrs of Japan.
