Saint Máedóc of Ferns, also called Aidan, was an Irish bishop and missionary. He was formed in the monastic tradition and became a spiritual father to the people of Ferns, where he established a center of Christian prayer, learning, and service.

Máedóc cared for the poor, instructed converts, and guided his disciples with humility and charity. His monastery helped spread the Catholic faith in southeastern Ireland, and he is honored as one of the great missionary bishops of the Irish Church.
