Saint Emeric of Hungary was the son of King Saint Stephen and was formed to serve God and the people of Hungary. His father instructed him in Christian virtue, chastity, justice, and the duties of a ruler.

Emeric lived with prayer and purity and was prepared to succeed his father, but he died in a hunting accident before becoming king. The Church honors him as a model for young people and canonized him with his father in 1083.
